The Great War Remembered Concert
On Saturday 9 November and Monday 11 November 2019, the Last Post Association will be organising the 16th edition of its ‘The Great War Remembered’ concert, held in the unique setting of Ieper’s St. Martin’s Cathedral. The soloists for this edition are Luka Bloom, Maaike Cafmeyer and Kobe Sercu.
Each year , the Last Post Association organises ‘The Great War Remembered’ concert on 11 November. The concert contributes to our annual remembrance of those who died for our freedom by turning back the clock 100 years to immerse the public in the atmosphere of the Great War in a medley of music, songs and spoken texts. Instrumental and vocal performers of the highest quality are combined with original First World War images to create an occasion that is both moving and memorable for a total of some 2,700 spectators.
Participants in the 2019 edition include the Royal Ypriana Concert Band, the Chorus choir, the Ypres Surrey Pipes & Drums and soloists Luka Bloom, Maaike Cafmeyer and Kobe Sercu. The performance is directed by Bart Cafmeyer. Nico Logghe and Tineke Devoghel direct the musicians and choral singers.
Because of the great demand for tickets each year, both from home and abroad, in 2019 three performances of the concert will be organised: two on Saturday 9 November, at 17.00 and 20.30 hours, and on Monday 11 November, at 17.00 hours
